Okay, this IO to Blog post feature sucks! I had a para right here explaining that I have been updating the outline more than the blog, and then went to blog to post some of my ideas into the blog (cuz you can right-click-post it, but it whacked my para!) YIIIIIKES!!!!. Anyways, I like the idea of keeping the outline as my blog. I hope J.O.E does it soon! that would be cool! Now here are my pearls of wisdom (or something else... you decide):
- it should ping and point to the entry that's being updated. So if 5 different nodes changed in an outline, all 5 should be either highlighted or have little arrows pointed to them.
- We should be able to put a link into another outline at a specific place (deep linking). Hyperlinking into outlines would be cool!
- Collaborative abilities would be cool!
- Allow/disallow buddies to access your outline.
- Give pre-authorizations to people
- to the whole outline
- or to parts of it
- This would cause authentication issues, where the users/passwords other info would be stored etc.
- RADIO -- yeah baby, its totally RAD IO !! that's what it should be, just an instant outliner accessible from anywhere. Screw the older HTML based blog, lets rock this thing! :)
- I think IO should be peer to peer. This means no central server! except for authentication or other very basic services. The only data maybe stored on a "server" node should be on/off etc type info or just the id of people who are online. since the method is invite only anyways, it should work like your ICQ or MSN-Messenger works. You'd tell your buddies what your IO number is, and Userland would give out those numbers, thus establishing a monopoly of sorts (and giving me a cut for my brilliant idea! <Evil Grinz>)
Okay, so now you get the idea! Check out the Instant Outline for more recent stuff! Now gotta go. Have to work tomorrow (cuz its workday!) :(
