Trip down memory lane
Yesterday was a trip down memory lane! watched Spiderman! Quite entertaining I say! I'm not a comicbook fan, but if I was to be a fan of any "super" hero, it would probably be Spiderman.. Batman is too elitist, Superman is outta this world! Spiderman is the true working class representative!
yay for spiderman!
Went to lil india yesterday to enjoy some desi food! Maghaz Masala, and Lamb Nihari, with naan! yum! Its the 3rd time I had maghaz masala, I like it, obviously the N. American culture doesn't really think animal brains are something to eat! hehehehe! one thing that does concern me is the possibility of getting some kinda brain virus, but hey... Same thing probably goes for the Paya Soup (cow feet). I used to hate it when I was a kid, because its got a really different texture, but man does it TASTE GOOD!
There was a classical indian songs video playing at the restaurant (Lahore Biryani) and it brought back so many memories.. when I was a kid, these songs used to be very popular, and I remember them being played when we used to go to Islamabad with Dad and Mian Saheb and Chacha Chaani, and Niazi Patwari.. And I was thinking, they used to talk about the meaning of some verses, and I'd be like, hmm... what's so special about that? huh?
Anyhow, on the way back I got the tape of that concert from one of the video stores at Gerard Street. Only $8. Something I am beginning to recognize, little things add to the contentment in our lives, and they are food, music, friendships. The current culture is so diametrically opposed to all that..
At least the one that first-time immigrants have to go thru.. add to that all the crap that immigrants have to put up with. You're neither there, nor here.. reminds me of the term "barzakh", which in the eastern (Persian) legend is the place where you are after you die, but before it is decided whether you will go to heaven or hell.. its kinda like being suspended between two cultures..
enough philosophizing.. I think I should start telling people about my blog, I mean what the heck! what's the point when no-one is reading it..
But I thought it was just for me? (shut up Amr)
