TGIF (yes I know its so mid 90's.. I'm a Lamo, so sue me!)
- Felt totally drained today.. the drive was a drag. I'm starting to get a hint of what's going on.. we'll see monday. Was thinking of sending an email this weekend, but haven't decided yet!
- Talked to Chuck today, seems like they have a side business going on, got some good pointers.. wonder if he'd be willing to stay in contact after?? He could give me some useful tips on contacting exporters in the Tiepei area! oh well, wait and see!
- Got a message from GG. same old lamo stuff.. I really don't understand some people.. I mean, if you don't wanna do a deal, just say so! why are you pissing around? and again, mr. Genius boy! if I wanted to be an hourly programmer, why would I want to start a venture with you? This is not encouraging (to say the least!)
- too personal? well there is a bunch of other stuff.. there is some stuff on Dave's blog that I got to read (sneaked a peek at work, but didn't have too much time)
- Posted the stats graph to filepile, seems to be getting a good response 9+ (1- thanks excited dude! bogarted my ratio.. not that I really care) so far! but seems to have stopped now... oh well, I shoulda posted when the activity is really high, like 6am! but i was getting ready to go to work!
- here's what I was thinking:
- find a way to scrape filepile page with the user/pwd so I can look at the latest stuff
- collect info on a regular poll basis
- users
- frequency of new files added
- scan for
- certain words
- +, -, x votes..
- create a negativity index
- create a 'repost' index
- create a 'useage' index (how many new files are being added per 60 min.
- maybe wrap this in a package that people can run from their desktops..
- PythonCard
- A Zope client?
- How about a radio (call back type thingy?), but I gotta go thru RCS and xml-rpc stuffs
- was thinking of asking Torrez to create an xml-rpc api to filepiler (or atleast an rss feed) that we can pick up every hour to get some info on the useage patterns!
- If this thing (the desktop dashboard) updates on a regular basis, we could even use it to see what's happening on the pile, set watches on the users, get alerts when those users upload files, set watches for our favorite stuff..
- the possibilities are endless!
- listening to "Dream On..." by aerosmith! some artists are geniuses.. Madonna is one of them.. I think she's the bomb, no matter what someone tell me to the contrary :-p
