Zia tips

Doug Landauer had some great camping (and other) tips.

Coding #1: Should the word definition be italics or linked ?  I've stumbled over the definition of defenition and the declaration of a prototype.  In further thought, not linked like that as that's not an example of the tip, and one probably filter out the header files in search parameters. This seems to be equally applicable to most C? languages I know.

Camping #1: With a wrench, I ended up tearing the ends of the cardboard tube in my cheap-o-brand paper towels. :-/

Camping #2: Excellent. Reminds me of parents marking their children's ages on the doorboard. Wish my vw-campmobile came with this or similar excursion log.

Home Tip #2: Metal twist ties are no substitute unless rust is not an issue.

Watery Laptops

Les Orchard reports that he's boiled his iBook.

My 2 year old gave the Dell laptop a small drink over the touch pad the other night which knocked it out for the evening.  After drying out it was ready to go in the morning with only a right mouse button remainig working crusty.

(For some reason it was really hard not to saturate this post with puns and wordplay.)

Janesville Wisconsin makes a good I-90 afternoon rest-stop.

Camden Playground at Palmer Park in Janesville Wisconsin [parks link] is one of the few handicapped accessible parks in the U.S.  It's huge, contains a gargantuan wooden steps/slides/bridges castle-ish structure and the standard park loot.  My boys hate to go.

Just down the road is the Rotary Gardens, a large themed garden (Greek, English-country, Japanese, etc.) with walking and sitting area.  Many women, including my wife, have received their engagement rings there.

These are all a just of off Interstate-90 with bike and stroller rentals, paved trails, and golf course.    More information here.

Ebert holdin' back the stars

Tam noted that "The Life of David Gale" with big names Kevin Spacey and Kate Winslet garnered ZERO stars

I will celebrate by remembering that I did enjoy Kung Pow and will probably watch the sequel and need to get around to watching his thumb stuff.

4-new Python Book Reviews at UnixReview

..and to completely blow my credibility: XSL-FO (review) may have gotten more sales if it were XSL-FU.
