I just attended a Compaq Roadshow briefing on the Desktop, Laptop, Handheld lines.  They have some big announcements upcoming.... I asked about the HP / Compaq merger and what would be the outcome of the OminBook and Jornado product lines with HP.  They didn't have any specifics, but it sounds like the Compaq Laptops, Compaq Desktops and IPAQ line are the future for the business environment.  HP will get the consumer lines for the Best-Buy, Circuit City.  They are back to shared video memory with an integrated video system on the 845G chipsets models using DDR memory.  They support Gigabit Ethernet with a PCI card. No announcement on DVD writers... Insight management on certain models but not all. Driver support for legacy OS's will not be there....maybe this opens the door for linux a little more.       12:06:45 PM
