Python Programmer weblogs and notes.
If you've dropped by via the very handy "pyblagg" Python Programmer Weblogs aggregator you'll notice my post about Bruce Eckel's Project Residencies has followed (or preceded via weblog reverse chronological precedence) Bruce's own run of postings after the announcement of his RSS feed. Update: those posts are floating probably due to date formatting in the XML. The validator (o-r not e-r?) is helpful here.
Thanks (again) to Richard Jones for publishing the Python aggregation. It seems to fit the bill is most of what I was hoping for an official Python Blog, and probably a happy medium. Thank You bloggers who have Python specific RSS feeds!
Next step: A Python weblog (garden?) for the list moderators to add quips, referrals, topic invitations, summaries, whatever--as long as it's easy and slightly informative--of the activities on their list. Comp.lang.python and c.l.py.announce is are covered by the Python-URL! and Daily-URL, but events in the other lists rarely get syndicated. Mailing list micro-content would be much easier to follow that digest email subject lists which rarely give a good indication of content.
Uh-oh. I feel some blogging introspection churning. I'd better call it a night.

The .NET Abstraction Pile
I enjoyed reading the article "The .NET abstraction pile."
Instead of waxing on about abstractions, patterns, and that dynamic in shared code-spaces, I'll let you wander into the wonderful abstract world of Hayakawa with my personal addition to the ASCII cows endeavor:
______________
| Hayakawa's | (__) (__) (__)

note to world: Don't trust WYSIWYG with ASCII art.

Bruce Eckel's Project Residencies in Crested Butte, CO
Bruce Eckel is now hosting project residencies in his locale. For $500/week min. 2 weeks (I'm assuming that's per group, not per head) you get...
- A short-term move your project team to a different, natury, locale.
- Daily 15 minute stand-up sessions in the morning. Scrummin' w/ Bruce!
- 1 hour project review every 3 days.
There's a number of reasonable limitations, and the cost does not cover food & housing. Not sure if working space is provided. I'm assuming it's also bring-your-own-processing. This sounds quite nifty, and is the first time I've heard of such a thing.
...I wonder if there would be a cheaper rate (and shorter time-span) for Open Source or non-Profit Zope-style Sprints/Hack-a-Thons. Colorado is halfway between Wisconsin and the west coast...
