Paul Prescod is blogging! + comments on Squishdot...

...Squishdot style, to boot!

Not that I'm a big fan of Squishdot, just that it's a highly visible, turnkey solution that gathers a lot of people in, and gets sour once you dig into the code side of product. (For example, show me a squishdot site that has a working integrated calander?   I dropped my subscription to the squishdot mailing list as the community was primarily interested in answering questions tritely and showed minimal communication (besides sponsorship requests) of furthuring the product.   Unless a saviour comes along, the next gen squishdot will be a CMF or Zope3 product.  For the adventuresome, give the ZopeZen CMF and Plone skin a try.

Freezope has a customizing Squishdot contest that the winner will be announced today.   I submitted, not to win, but for the community visibility of a few features I find helpful (comment monitoring, topic listing, quote of the day.)   Looking forward to viewing the list of submissions...

'Attention' abstracted by a 3 year old...

Me: Evan? EVAN!?   Good, now I've got your attention.

Evan: But Daddy! I need my attention!

Evan: Don't take my attention anymore.

Evan: Mommy! Daddy took my attention.

...I felt like my son had taken the honors version of the 'got yer nose' game--and with his thumb, held my psyche tightly lodged between his first and second finger.  Impish grin strangely absent.

Edit anywhere...and more editing candy!

Integrated editors.  Sometimes fun, sometimes constricting.

To edit my 'Somewhere Between' poem I have to redo the entire thing due to the integrated HTML editor munging the space formatting...perhaps I could re-do the entire thing in  's....which would be more RSS friendly...

At Zope, Shane is making progress with Zope PageEdit code.  I'm looking forward to it.  Integrated editor's DO help quick adoption.  ZWiki and the Zope (Web browser-able!) Management Interface could use some more handy editing...now let us not force everyone (by trouncing on each other's documents) into HTML formatted, etc., text.

(Hmm...I haven't visited http://www.xmlsuck.com in awhile..  He chose Zope and Squishdot due to "edit anywhere" factors of the ZMI.)

Simon made some excellent points regarding how to keep Wiki-fruit from dying on the vine, including other Wiki management tips.
