PITTSBURGH - Fred Rogers, who gently invited millions of children to be his neighbor as host of the public television show "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" for more than 30 years, died of cancer early Thursday. He was 74.
I literally lived in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood when I was in Pittsburgh. Sad to hear that he has passed on. I was more of a Captain Kangaroo fan as a child, but I have always had a deep respect for anyone who makes a successful career of playing with kids & toys (without showing up in the tabloids). |
