X-Archetypes
Web Archetypes and OS X

Tuesday, March 11, 2003

Even though my platform of choice is Mac OS X, my day job requires me to use Windoze daily. That being the case, I am constantly on the look-out for tools that will allow me to create a web development environment that works the same way on all platforms. Today, I found a couple tools that are worth exploring.

First, up is NewsMonster. NewsMonster is a Java-based news arregator that fits nicely into Mozilla. So no matter the platform, be it Mac OS X, Linux or Windoze, this combination provides a nice environment for accessing the latest development news and development weblogs. Utilizing Mozilla's SideBar resource I have quick access. If I plan to be on the on the road this setup allows me to "pick-up" the latest news before leaving, making it easy to peruse my favorite RSS feeds while off-line.

I extend my thanks to the NewsMonster development team for delivering a great application.
