Warchalking Toron..D'oh!!
Okay, so I met up with EmmaJane.Net for "Warchalking Toronto". There were some other ppl that were supposed to show up (Graig, Emma's boyfriend, Blake (?) and some from GTAB) but in the end, it was just the two of us.
First we tried to get Emma's Acer Notebook working with its wireless capabilities (using my iBook as a base station) but that didn't pan out. By the time we were ready to go warchalking (two coffees later on my part) the iBook decided to quit on me!
D'OH! D'oh!! D'ohhhhh!!
The only sliver lining in that cloud was that we _were_ able to find 4 nodes right there while sitting there in the Starbucks on Queen & John. So Emma went ahead and chalked one (correctly I might add). Not being the one to be left out, I decided to chalk on of my own, even though I the signal for that node was pretty noisy..
Anyhow, in my own particular idiom, I was able to write a non-existent symbol to indicate a node
D'oh!!
Come to think of it, this symbol was debated at Warchalking.org at one time (if my memory serves me right) but was abandoned due to its confusing nature.. Anyhow, I'm sure the owner of that node was thankful that the would-be warchalker was not savvy enough to correctly identify the node.
All in all, it was not a bad experience, we need to get more ppl out next time. Much fun was had by all I suppose! :)
I'll post the pics later..
