Python Community Server

Question:

What can you upstream to, that isn't a Radio Community Server?

Answer:

The Python Community Server!

Why?

If this (quoted below) isn't a challenge, I don't know what is.  "Can't be done in a week" ... hmm ...

Some people have said it's clonable in open source, and that's true, and it would be okay with us if people did that. Some have said they can do it in a week, and that's of course not true. Sure they won't have to do some of the work we did, like design it and bootstrap it and create a community of users, but it's still a lot more work than it may appear to be, at first glance. But if you have a few months and want to do a cool piece of software, and can make it run faster or cheaper or in places we don't reach, go for it.

I haven't proven Dave wrong yet however - this software you are talking to right now is not a full clone of RCS; it's missing the referrer & hit tracking.  It does, however, implement UserLand's xmlStorageSystem interface so you can upstream to it, and it will serve pages quite happily.

If you want to try it out, go to your Radio's 'Change Community Server' page and set your server (to http://update.pycs.net/RPC2.  Pick a password and try upstreaming!  And send me a mail to say how you got on :)
