Electricity is strange. At high enough currents/voltages, air conducts electricity better than metal. Light is also strange. If you manage to make a nanoscale transparent threadlike material thinner than the wavelength of a particular frequency of light, it will conduct light like a fiber optic cable with one key difference: the light actually travels on the outside of the fiber. |
