Wednesday, 2002-9-4reStructured TextIn the comments on 8/30 (the entry with the pretty lake picture), I mentioned [re]Structured Text as one possible semi-standardized, lightweight minimal markup language. It has the advantage of borrowing from conventions that have years of real usage on USENET, which conventions developed in an ad-hoc manner, rather than being explicitly designed. And there's a good-sized population of USENET users already familiar with the style of marks that it uses. Check out http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tibsnjoan/reST/quick_reST.html and http://mail.python.org/pipermail/doc-sig/2000-November/001239.html for a couple of pointers into the python doc SIG; and there is some actual Python code and other stuff I haven't read in http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tibsnjoan/reST/ In particular, http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tibsnjoan/reST/pydps.tgz might be worth looking at.
