I changed my bzero startup script to look for an environment variable "BZERO_LIB" and use that for the "rootDir" instead of the hard-coded "/usr/lib/bzero".

That seems to have finally made it unnecessary to put the VERSION file anywhere outside of the BZERO_LIB location. I think.

Labor Day weekend coming up -- no experimentation for
