Did backup with BackupBuddyVFS and it took a minute..

Did backup with BackupBuddyVFS and it took a minute or so. It has a timed backup feature which can run daily backups, no option to specify which weekdays or anything. The backup was supposed to be incremental but it still displayed each file as it went which added to the slow feel.

I'll set the timed backup and try to forget about it. I set it to midnight.

There is an option for it to keep deleted files which is tempting.

Copied a file to jr's pc.

Copied a file to jr's pc. Logged in as pcw and no password. I got those weird long delays trying to list directory contents.

I installed the demo version of BackupBuddyVFS.

I installed the demo version of BackupBuddyVFS. It allows incremental backup to the expansion card. The trial is good for 30 days, the program is $16.95 which at the current exchange rate is < £10. There is a windows version that is more expensive but includes BackupBuddyVFS. I think I can live with just the VFS version. This allows me to backup/restore anywhere and I can always copy the backup files from the card to the PC every once in a while.

I was a bit disappointed that the files are not compressed. Also, they are not munged into one file, each file is copied to /palm/backup and it's file extension is changed.

I exported the Hemagen Analyst Bonsai file to html,..

I exported the Hemagen Analyst Bonsai file to html, the converted that to Isilo and so shrank it from 14k to 4k. It loses the ability to collapse branches but it is all there.

I wrote a python script, html2isilo to simplify the conversion. It dicks around with Isilo .ixl files automatically. I think I will add an option to windows explorer to convert a file.
