Using these steps to force outlook to read all mail as plain text:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type regedit.

3. Locate the following registry key:

   HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice10.0OutlookOptionsMail

4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWord Value.

5. With the new Dword value selected, type ReadAsPlain.

6. Double-click the new value to open it. In the Value Data box, type 1, and then click OK.

7. Click OK, and then quit Registry Editor.

This is from Q307594 although microsoft seem to have decided against using Q numbers.

It seems to work.
