Sky Plus box is playing up.

Sky Plus box is playing up. Playback of recordings is terrible. I think it is the hard disk (hunch). I can stick a new disk in and get more capacity as well. Have to research this when I get my new broadband connection tomorrow :-)

Natara Bonsai Outliner, 1st Impressions:

Natara Bonsai Outliner, 1st Impressions: I like it. Far slicker than Progect & ShadowPlan. Very good import & export, desktop tool is less hacky than SP & the licence allows me to use it at work & at home.

16:51: Did extra hard gym routine. I'm gonna ache in the morning.

Registered Zlauncher and BTToggle. I can't live without Zl now. Pisses me off that BTtog is necessary & that the 0/S is so dumb. Used PalmGear.com. Threw out my visa number: should I be worried ?.

OpenChess: doesn't allow Switch5 to get me out: can even crash palm. Home button on keypad works but I hate extending my palm.

  • 9:45: Tried Qed: butt ugly & crashed within 2 minutes. Bye Bye. There is also Pedit as a text editor but it works by hacking memo's.

  • 10:48: Weasel Reader: kept crashing while scrolling.

  • 12:25: CSpotRun: didn't crash but fonts too big.

* 8:44:

  • 8:44: Tried HWiki and it is not good. It does not justify text so words wrap the middle. It starts off with a list of memo's with no delete option or hint what is what. Zapped it, would rather persist with WikiWorld.

  • 9:36: WikiWorld is no more. It screwed up a HotSync and I don't trust it.

  • 15:08: Woo Hoo, cable men found my cable. Now just have to get it installed...

  • 15:22: Palm-DB: does what it says on the tin but it's support for memo fields is too raw for me. I'll keep it around to see if i can think of a use for it.

  • 11:40: NTL returning tomorrow am. Got my fingers crossed. Life without Broadband seems like life without TV.

  • 21:06: Discovered WikiWorld, a kind of non-web based Wiki. It's cool to use but:

  • limited export facilities (HTML only)

  • it messed up a hotsync by giving duplicate enties.

Comes in a free version with no find functIon. There is also something called HWiki to look at but that drops into a text editor, rather than edit in place like WikiWorld.

  • 20:24: Set up palm for networking over bluetooth. It was fiddly but it was all going by end of play. Problems to resolve:
    • after a hotsync the pc name is set to the pc name without the domain which causes the next hotsync to fail.

    • I will have to buy BTToggle to turn the bluetooth on and off. Not sure why this is not part of the O/S

Still I was impressed by the range. Hoping I can use it anywhere in the house.

Had relapse of sundays problems.

Had relapse of sundays problems. Had to leave work early because of ills & because NTL turned up 3 hours early to fit broadband. They could not find the cable so they buggerred off. Dunno if/when they will be able to do it.

Bisi's cousin Faith & husband visited. Brought 4x3 hour tapes of their wedding videos. Helped me to sleep through the afternoon.

  • creates action & gives it a name

  • does other stuff

NTL came @ 8:40 for 9:00 appointment & pissed off before I cculd answer the door. Have to arrange yet another appointment. Fixed door bell after 4 years.

  • 16:43: Sitting in gym, waiting for Bisi and playing with palm. Must investigate screen protectors as the plastic that comes on it is getting pretty tired. I want to start using the palm for appointments since they are easier to enter and I take the palm everywhere anyway. Discovered I can beam appointments from phone to card but only one at a time so this is probably too fiddly to be useful.

Switcher5 is really neat. Can use it from the command bar (/) so don't have to press buttons.

  • 17:44: Cajun hot one: a pizza hut pizza that you can taste.

  • 22:00 Watched Matrix 3: good action, still don't understand the prophecy stuff. Cinema pretty empty for a new film on a friday night. Maybe because of 6:30 start time.

  • 11:51: Washed & vacuumed car.

  • 12:09: Ok, first entry using a Palm Premium Screen Protector and first impressions are very good. Not sure that my entry speed is better: l think that looking at the stylus tip makes some improvement. So
    • how much ?

    • how long will it last ?

  • 15:55: Signed up for bisiand.me.uk on oneandone.co.uk. Corny name designed to be easy to remember. Set up email addesses for bisi and me (ha ha).

  • 18:00: Waited an hour (as advised) and domain still not actlve. No use for it for now but it's the principle. Hair cut.

Hotsynced & it looks like it is entirely possible to enter notes on both the palm and the PC and for the changes to be merged.

I'm impressed.

Upgraded DayNotez desktop to the 1.0 beta version so I could look at the new export facilities. It seems to work.

Output looks like this:

It can be opened directly in Excel !
