Tim Bray gives us a brief run down on Jython and why it is important. Underlying his thoughts is this one line summary:
If I had to cram it into one sentence: it’s faster to write software in dynamic languages, and the (real) benefits you get from an anally type-sensitive compiler can be had more cheaply with modern testing disciplines.

Ran across this pointer to Michael Nadels Article Use Jython to build JUnit test suites. Its a great idea. Use Jython to traverse the entrie source tree and dynamically build a JUnit TestSuite class that tests all the required classes in the source tree. Very clever.
