I'm in a photo show

I'm in a photography show with 11 other photographers. It's my first show in about five years. I'm going to show informal portraits that I made with my big Fuji rangefinder camera.

DEL RAY DOZEN INVITATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW

PRESENTED BY THE DEL RAY ARTISANS

Alexandria, VA. 9/12/03 - Excitement is building at the Del Ray Artisans (DRA) gallery in anticipation of the upcoming "Del Ray Dozen Invitational Photography Show". This first all-photography show to be held at Del Ray Artisans will feature the work of twelve photographers-making the requisite dozen.

DRA, a non-profit organization of fine and functional artists, has grown from its inception in 1992 to include a large cadre of photographers. Gallery Coordinator, Karen Schmitz, realizing the potential for a powerful show suggested to Rob Rudick, well-known regional photographer, that he curate a photography exhibit.

The opening reception will be Friday, October 3rd, 2003 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the DRA gallery space located in the Nicholas A. Colasanto Center at 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia. The reception will include a raffle of photography pieces created by "the Dozen". The opening reception is free and open to the public.

Participating photographers are Dave Bair, Kathryn Brown, Van Burgess, Jen Chappell, Paige Ireland, Marlin G. Lord, Dave Nicholson, Tom Nyerges, Vivian Raveling, Rob Rudick, Lauren Supina, and David Talmage. They will be presenting a cornucopia of works with subjects ranging from portraits, landscapes, architectural details and international locations to flowers and boldly colorful abstracts of neon. Different approaches to photography will include ilfochrome prints, digital photographs, macro photographs, negative images and manipulated Polaroids; along with traditional color and black and white photography. Additionally, Paige Ireland will be showcasing her unique picture frames constructed from salvaged wood. The exhibition will run through October 26th, and is free and open to the public.
